I am Bethany Zavada, formerly of Hennepin and now in Streator. I teach high school English at Putnam County High School in Granville. I teach, coach volleyball and softball and write in my spare time! My three dachshunds, Russell, Kevin and J.J. wish I walked them as much as I write, but believe me they are well taken care of and spoiled rotten!
My passion for writing comes from my love of reading. It’s all full circle for me! Growing up an avid-reader, I consumed book after book and around fifth grade or so started my first novel about an interracial couple facing the hardships of the relationship. Why? I have no idea, I grew up in Pontiac, had no prior experience with interracial relationships and frankly, knew nothing that really held any weight. I didn’t care at that age, I just knew I loved to write. Looking back, it wasn’t horrible, now it wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t atrocious either. I’d like to explore my passion for writing, my love for the community and the betterment of the readers, and to set a good example for my daughter and students alike to follow their passions and try new and maybe hard things.
