Burglary charge added to Ottawa man who fled scene

After an investigation into a burglary committed in the 800 block of East Joliet Street in Ottawa, additional charges were filed against an Ottawa man who fled police Wednesday.

Jake W. Davis, 34, was arrested near the intersection of North 29th Road and East 1979th Road in rural Marseilles with the help of Marseilles police on complaints of aggravated fleeing and eluding police, DUI and multiple traffic citations Wednesday.

At about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, an Ottawa patrolman attempted to stop Davis' vehicle on East Norris Drive in Ottawa on a complaint of speeding. The vehicle fled from the stop but ultimately pulled over near the area of Old Chicago Road and East Norris Drive, police said.

Police said the front seat passenger, Levolia Pointer, 49, of Ottawa, fled from the vehicle but was taken into custody a short distance away. Pointer was arrested on a complaint of resisting a peace officer and released with a court date.

Police said an investigation into a burglary on the 800 block of East Joliet Street led to an additonal charge of burglary for Davis.

Davis is being held in the La Salle County Jail where bond was set at $100,000. Additional charges are pending, police said.
