Area Roundup: Streator cross country falls to IVC on senior night

Woodland, Sandwich linksmen drop duals; Somonauk splits triangular

Streator's cross country teams fell to Illinois Valley Central on senior night Tuesday at Twister Hill Park/Greenway Trail. The Bulldogs lost 19-40, while the Lady Bulldogs dropped an 18-43 decision.

Following Streator's honoring seniors Ethan Darrow, Stephanie Mendoza, Kevin Parr, Abby Seaton and Josh Wilinski, Kody Danko finished second in the boys race, followed by Darrow [8th], Copper Spears [9th] and NIck Adams [10th] . Seaton placed third in the girls event, followed by Mendoza [8th] and Lily Kupec [9th].

At Timber Ridge, the Warriors were paced by Glen Ruff's 49, Nolan Bressi's 51, Carter Ruff's 53 and Nick Hoekstra's 57.

Hinckley-Big Rock 165, Somonauk 182, Indian Creek 207

At Indian Oaks, Jaylen Dion and Tyler Jansen each carded 43s, while Carter Andrews and Alex Krejci scored 48s for Somonauk.

At Oak Ridge, the Indians fell to 2-9 overall and 1-6 in I-8 play. Sam Dawson and Aidan Sullivan posted 48s, while Noah Klossing and Jake Heilemeier had 49s.

Seneca 179, Mendota 180, Hall 187

At Spring Creek on Monday, the Irish were led by Austin Marshall's 42, Rylee Stenzel's 45 and 46s from Holden Flynn, Noah Quigley and Noah Cade.

At Indian Oaks, the Lady Bobcats were led by Amanda Sanderson with a 58, followed by Haley Morris' 60.

At Ottawa on Monday, the Lady Pirates fell in I-8 play. Both Mary Riva at No. 2 singles [3-6, 6-3, 6-1] and the No. 1 doubles team of Ella Marvel and Grace Satterfield [6-4, 6-2] secured Ottawa wins.

Suffering losses were Sara Meyer [6-3, 6-0] in singles and the doubles teams of Kyleigh Olszewski and Madison Lineback [6-4, 6-5] and Avery Landers and Tessa Thiry [7-6(5), 6-3].
