Christ Episcopal Church in Ottawa will host its annual Blessing of the Pets at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3.
The church is located at 113 E. Lafayette St., across from Washington Square. The blessing will take place outside on the front steps or north side of the church.
All participating animals will be individually blessed by Fr. Mike Dwyer. The annual blessing of the pets is offered free each year in the month of October in commemoration of St. Francis of Assisi and his love for all animals.
Animals should be contained or restrained for safety. People should wear masks and maintain social distance. Participating pets will receive a special pet blessing tag to sport on their collars or cages.
For those interested, a 5 p.m. church service will follow inside the church for well-behaved pets and their parents regardless of denomination or religious affiliation.
