A human remain detection dog handler from Illionis and Wisconsin Rescue Dogs walks down La Salle Road north of Peru near the crime scene. Sheriff Tom Templeton said the dogs were beginning to struggle with the early-afternoon heat, and it was decided to resume the search Wednesday, Sept. 9, by which time cooler temperatures would lend to an extended search.

A serial killer named Dellmus Colvin has been talking, telling the podcast “Where the Bodies Are Buried” of places he killed and disposed of as many as 52 female victims.

Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, investigators halted the search of a section of La Salle Road east of Chartres Street. Crime scene technicians along with cadaver dogs and their handlers were spotted searching the grounds near an abandoned truck wash.
