In place of the annual Corn Fest 5K Run, Morris Hospital will host the Conquer COVID Virtual 5K this fall. Registration is underway now through Aug. 30 by going to raceroster.com/31061.
Those participating in the Morris Hospital Conquer COVID 5K will run or walk a 5K course or route of their choice anytime during the week of Sept. 20-27. All participants are asked to adhere to social distancing.
After completing the 5K, participants will submit their time online following instructions provided at the time of registration. Race results will be posted online after Sept. 27; however, awards will not be issued this year due to course variation.
Registration is $15 per person and includes a Conquer COVID Virtual 5Klong sleeve running shirt available in unisex adult sizes only. The first 500 registrants will also receive a face covering.
Participants will have two options for receiving their race packet: Packets can be mailed to the participant’s home on Sept. 15 for an additional $5 shipping charge, or, packets can be picked up at the former Shabbona School, 725 School St., Morris, from 3 to 6 p.m. Sept. 15 or 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 17.
A map of the Corn Fest 5K course is available on the registration website for those who would like to use the traditional course that starts in front of Morris Grade School and winds through a residential neighborhood. The course will not be closed to traffic or marked in any way.
