Five new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus were reported to the La Salle County Health Department (LCHD) on Monday, bringing the county's running total of confirmed cases to 210.
Four women — one in her 20s, one in her 30s, one in her 40s and one in her 60s — as well as one man in his 30s tested positive and were reported to the LCHD on Monday. Public health officials are working to identify and investigate all individuals who were in contact with them. No other information was made available, citing federal privacy restrictions.
A single additional recovery also was also reported, bringing that running total to 151.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 17 deaths related to COVID-19 in La Salle County. Forty-two cases remain active.
There have been 7,706 people tested for COVID-19 in La Salle County, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health's website, making up 7.05% of the population.
Of the county's 210 confirmed cases, 154 are traced to ZIP codes associated with Marseilles (47 cases), Ottawa (32 cases), Sheridan (26 cases), Mendota (21 cases), Streator (seven cases), Peru (six cases), La Salle (six cases) and Somonauk (nine cases), the last of which is partially located in La Salle County.
No other La Salle County ZIP codes have reported more than five confirmed cases.
