U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon, was deployed with the Wisconsin Air National Guard for a “few days” to respond to communities with violence in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death.

On May 25, Floyd, a black man, died as a Minneapolis police officer pressed his knee into Floyd’s neck in a scene caught on video. In subsequent days, protests and riots broke out across the nation.

Kinzinger served alongside his unit, according to an announcement made by his communications director.

Kinzinger, who also is a lieutenant colonel, has gone on missions before while in office. In at least two missions within the past year, Kinzinger was deployed to the U.S.-Mexico border. He has flown border duty before, doing immigration and drug-smuggling aerial surveillance.

Kinzinger’s Washington and Illinois offices, including one in Ottawa, are able to provide constituent services when Kinzinger is deployed.
