One new confirmed case of COVID-19 at Pontiac Correctional Center was reported Friday to the Livingston County Health Department . The individual who tested positive is a man in his 50s who was asymptomatic at the time of testing. He is currently recovering in isolation.

Due to the increased COVID-19 activity at the prison, additional protective measures are being implemented in order to identify new cases and ensure the health and safety of staff and inmates, including more frequent testing.

The Livingston County Health Department reported Friday it has received 756 COVID-19 test results. Of that, 31 (4.1%) have been confirmed positive, 725 tests confirmed negative.

Twenty-five of the previously reported confirmed cases have been removed from isolation, four cases remain active, and two cases have resulted in death due to complications related to COVID-19. Of those individuals who have tested positive, four were asymptomatic at the time of testing.

Of the county's 31 positive test results, 15 have been traced to Pontiac's ZIP code and six to Dwight.

Countywide, 2.37% of Livingston County's population has been tested, with 0.09% of the total population — not just those tested — having had a confirmed case of coronavirus.
