La Salle County confirmed one additional COVID-19-related death and no new cases Thursday afternoon.
The deceased was a male in his 80s who had earlier tested positive. There have been nine COVID-19-related deaths in the county.
“We are deeply saddened to hear of the additional loss of one of our La Salle County residents to this illness. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to the family and friends who are mourning the loss of their loved ones,” said La Salle County Health Department Administrator Julie Kerestes in a statement.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases remains at 130 for La Salle County.
Seven additional cases have recovered and have been released from isolation, making the total number of recovered individuals 67 for the county.
La Salle County has tested 2,536 people, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health, which is 2.36% of La Salle County's population; .12% of the population has tested positive.
There have been 18 confirmed cases in Ottawa, 33 in Marseilles, 15 in Mendota, 19 in Sheridan and six cases in Somonauk, according to the IDPH, which lists numbers for zip codes with clusters of six or more cases.
