Tuesdays are now work days at the Habitat for Humanity home project on Catherine Street in Ottawa.
Volunteers are needed 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., said Habitat for Humanity Executive Director Sally Van Cura.
"Our regular, construction volunteer family has grown to about 45 individuals and have already provided just over 1,000 productive hours of service towards this Habitat build," Van Cura said. "Our Habitat is expanding the volunteer build days and opening group build opportunities as we would like to complete this home for Valerie (McAvoy) and her girls as soon as possible with the help of our volunteers."
McAvoy and her two daughters, Olivia, 17, and Jayda, 11, were selected in May to work with the agency to build a house and pay a no-interest mortgage on their new home.
Van Cura said there were about a half dozen volunteers Tuesday to help install insulation into the home.
Volunteers also are welcome to help every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Team volunteer opportunities are available 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Fridays for anyone interested.
Those wishing to help also can donate cash or materials, or provide lunch. To do so, contact Habitat for Humanity at 815-434-2041, go to localhabitat.org or find the group on Facebook. Volunteers can show up on any of the scheduled days or call to set up a team volunteer opportunity.
