Man rescued from trench hole in Pontiac

After four hours of rescue efforts, a man trapped from the waist down was rescued from a trench hole in Pontiac.

The man was taken to OSF St. James — John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac and then taken to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria by life flight helicopter, according to a press release issued by the Pontiac Fire Department.

Due to the complexity of the rescue, several emergency crews and departments, including the MABAS 41 Technical Rescue Team and MABAS 25 Technical Rescue Team, were called to assist. Hoffrichter Lumber Yard, H J Eppel & Company and Opperman Construction provided additional supplies and equipment to rescue personnel.
