AREA ROUNDUP: Kissel's 40 leads Crusaders past Earlville

Bulldogs top Lisle at Eastwood

EARLVILLE — The Marquette Academy golf squad, led a medalist score of 40 by Sean Kissel, came away from a non-conference match here at the Earlville Country Club with a 183-190 victory over the host Red Raiders.

The top score for the home team was a 43 carded by Branson Vahl.

Streator 183, Lisle 230

At the Eastwood Golf Course, Jacob Magana fired off a medalist score of 38, leading the Bulldogs to the Illinois Central Eight Conference win.

Also for the 'Dogs, Austin Fairall shot a 47, Noah Colter 48 and Cooper Wahl a 50 to complete the winning team score. Streator is now 4-1 in the league and 6-3 overall this season.

Girls Swimming

Byron 61, LPOSE Coop 41

At the L-P pool, the La Salle-Peru/Ottawa/ Streator/Earlville lost despite Peyton Heagy taking first in both the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke, Nicole Pocivasek first in the 200 and 500 freestyle events and Ashley Heagy first in the 100-yard backstroke.

Ashley Heagy was also second in the 50 freestyle, while the foursome of Pocivasek, Heagy, Heagy and Cora Walker was second in the 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays.

JUCO women's tennis

Sauk Valley 5, IVCC 4

At Dixon, the Lady Eagles fell, despite wins for Grace Filipiak, Karlee Arjes and Tyler Kroll in singles and a doubles win by Isabel Lueck and Michelle Windy.

Streator grad Jennifer Romero lost 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6 singles.

JV girls tennis

Ottawa 5, Streator 0

At the King Field courts, Kyleigh Olszewski was an 8-3 winner at No. 1 and Jenna Smithmeyer won at No. 2 8-0 to sweep the singles events for the Lady Corsairs.

In doubles play, OHS' winners were Kyra Mitchell and Grace Satterfield 8-0, Olivia Long and Cora Sisk 8-3 and Isabel Heimsoth and Madison Linebacker 8-0.
