$10K grant awarded to Princeton Theatre Group

Funds will help fulfill plans for upcoming shows

Princeton Theatre Group is receiving a $10,000 grant to support the 2019 summer season at Festival 56. The funds come from the National Endowment for the Arts.

“This is such a tremendous honor for us,” said Tommy Iafrate, producing artistic director at Festival 56, in a news release. “It’s an honor for any arts organization to be supported by the NEA."

Iafrate said being selected from a large pool of applicants reaffirms the theater group's mission and artistry.

“All Americans should have access to the arts,” said Mary Anne Carter, acting chairwoman of the National Endowment for the Arts, in a news release. “Grants such as this one to the Princeton Theatre Group are an important part of the National Endowment for the Arts’ work to ensure people in communities both large and small across the nation have the opportunity to experience the arts.”

Liana Hall, president of Princeton Theatre Group's Board of Directors, said the organization has ambitious plans this year, and the funds from the grant will be instrumental in fulfilling many of those goals.

“The NEA grant will help to support many of our endeavors this season, including bringing 50 artists to Princeton from around the country,” Hall said in a news release.

The 2019 season will include the group's free Shakespeare in the Park production of "Othello," as well as the musicals "Mary Poppins," "I Do! I Do!" and "Little Women."
