A Peru man accused of leaving a voicemail message with State Sen. Sue Rezin's office threatening to commit a mass shooting was denied a bond reduction Wednesday after making his first court appearance.
Peru police arrested Steve Tutko, 33, at 12:45 p.m. Tuesday after they said he made specific threats to commit a mass shooting at "a school."
His bond remains at $100,000, needing $10,000 for release, according to court documents. His next court appearance is scheduled 9 a.m. Thursday, May 23, in Judge Cynthia Raccuglia's courtroom. He remains in custody at the La Salle County Jail.
