Waubonsee Community College sophomore pitcher/infielder and former Sandwich High School standout Jordan Isham was recently named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Baseball Pitcher of the Week after the Chiefs' right-handed hurler tossed a complete-game, two-hit shutout in a 6-0 victory over Olive-Harvey College.
Isham, who struck out 11, walked only one and faced just four hitters over the minimum in seven innings of work to pick up the home win for WCC (23-20), has struck out 43 batters in 33 innings pitched this spring. He is also having a great year at the plate, batting .339 with six doubles, two triples, four homers and 23 RBIs.
Rock Valley College's Michael Obos (So., Marquette) is hitting .444 on the season for the Golden Eagles (36-13) and recently went 2-for-2 at the plate in a game against Triton College.
Hunter Simon (So., Seneca) has made 13 appearances out of the bullpen for Illinois Wesleyan University (18-15, 11-8 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) this season and is 1-2 with a 5.09 ERA. Simon has worked 17 2/3 innings, striking out seven and allowed a batting average against of just .226.
Madelyn Thompson (Jr., Marquette) is hitting .352 with 11 doubles, two triples and leads St. Ambrose University with six home runs and 35 RBIs. Thompson recently went 4-for-6 in the Bees' doubleheader split with Olivet Nazarene University. St. Ambrose outfielder Jasmine Bowman (Fr., Ottawa) is batting .345 with a pair of doubles and triples, a home run, seven RBIs and 14 stolen bases. Bowman recently had a 2-for-3 game which helped the Bees earn a split with Cardinal Stritch University. Makena McConnaughhay (Fr., Marquette) recently went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs against Robert Morris University, then added a run batted in the second game to help the Bees complete the doubleheader sweep. SAU is 30-16 overall and finished fourth in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference at 15-7.
Saint Xavier University's Lyda Robinson (Fr., Seneca) is hitting .316 with three doubles, nine RBIs, eight stolen bases and is second on the club with 25 runs scored. The Cougars are currently 28-8 on the season and begin play at the CCAC Tournament on Thursday.
Helena Porter (So., Woodland) is batting .333 with two doubles, five RBIs and 12 stolen bases for Kishwaukee Community College (10-21). Teammate Lexi Ramon (So., Streator) is hitting .242 with three doubles, one triple and 12 RBIs. Ramon has also pitched in 13 games (10 starts), going 3-7 with five complete games and an ERA of 3.21.
Bri Avery (Fr., Sandwich) has played in 41 games (34 starts) for Butler University and is hitting .256 with 16 runs scored and seven stolen bases for the Bulldogs (15-31, 3-11 Big East).
Maddie Kawall (Fr., Somonauk) is batting .416 with eight doubles, 14 RBIs and 16 stolen bases for Waubonsee Community College (25-14). Teammate Rebecca Sweeney (Fr., Newark) recently smacked a third-inning solo home run in the Lady Chiefs' tough, 2-1 loss to Joliet Junior College.
University of Wisconsin-Stout's Jessica Christansen (Fr., Somonauk) has appeared in 33 games (32 starts) and is hitting .235 with a double, six RBIs and seven stolen bases for the Blue Devils (18-17).
Tayler Fall (Fr., Somonauk) has played in 12 games (nine starts) for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (8-24) and is batting .414 with a double and five RBIs.
Aurora University's Megan Schwartz (Fr., Sandwich) has played in 19 games (10 starts) and has posted a pair of doubles, a home run and four RBIs. The Spartans are currently 26-14 on the season.
