Food Fare: Community meals around the area

FISH FRY, 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 27, Sheridan American Legion, 300 E. Si Johnson Ave., Sheridan. To arrange carryouts, call 815-496-2380. The cost is $9 for one piece of cod or catfish, fried or poached, with choice of french fries or baked potato, homemade hush puppies and salad bar. Also available are hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwursts or tenderloins. The special will be goulash and garlic bread with a complete salad bar.

PANCAKE AND SAUSAGE BREAKFAST, 7 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 622 W. Jefferson St., Ottawa. $7 for adults, $3 children ages 3 to 8 years. 815-433-1408.

IVCIL RIP’S FUNDRAISER, 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 29, Rip’s Tavern, 311 N. Main Ave., Ladd. Rip’s Chicken fundraiser for The Illinois Valley Center for Independent Living. Tickets are $10 and include choice of quarter light chicken, quarter dark chicken or chicken strips, along with fries and bread. Carryouts available. CULVER’S CARES, 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 6, Culver’s, 3001 Fairfield Lane, Ottawa. Raising funds to assist Emma Wiley purchase equipment for muscular dystrophy.

5-B’s PORK CHOP AND CHICKEN DINNER, 4:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, Epworth United Methodist Church, 627 Gentleman Road, Ottawa. Drive-through only dinner with choice of three meals: two pork chops; half chicken; or one pork chop and quarter chicken. Cost is $12 and includes baked beans, coleslaw, applesauce, roll and butter. Pick up dinners by entering parking lot off Route 23 at Maryland Avenue, proceed east through Epworth Village to church parking lot. Exit onto Mason Street.
