Easter is around the corner, coming on Sunday, April 21, this spring. Around STarved Rock Country area communities there are Easter egg hunts and other activities planned.
The United Presbyterian Church, 620 S. Ottawa St., is hosting an Easter egg hunt and Easter egg decorating contest 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20. The egg hunt, rain or shine, will be for children up to fifth grade. The decorated egg contest will be for children up to fifth grade for the chance to win a basket and for junior high and older for a chance to win $25. Call 815-246-8004 for more information.
The recreation board set the city's Easter egg hunt for 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Illini State Park. Marseilles Elementary School will be used as a secondary location in case of inclement weather. Breakfast with the Easter Bunny will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. at the American Legion. Breakfast is free for children under age 12 and $4 for adults. Photo opportunities also will be available with the Easter Bunny.
A children's Easter egg hunt and party is scheduled 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in the Church Social Center at the Millington United Methodist Church, 200 Orleans St. The party will feature a visit from the Easter bunny, helium balloons and games, an opportunity for a picture with a bunny, crafts, coloring, hot dogs, chips and a drink. Guests are welcome to bring their cameras and a basket. Guests also may bring cookies to share or an item for the food pantry.
The La Salle County Nursing Home, 1380 N. 27th Road, will be hosting an Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. Friday, April 19.
Skydive Chicago, 3215 E. 1969th Road, will be hosting an egg hunt 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, April 21, on the south lawn with a guest appearance by the Easter Bunny. Donations of candy or cash may be made. Donations can be dropped off in the manifest office.
The Spring Holiday Egg Hunt is scheduled 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 13, outside in Knights Park, rain or shine. Bring a basket to collect eggs. Younger children will be given a head start for the egg hunt and children up to 12 can participate.
The Serena United Methodist Church, 2259 U.S. 52, will host an Easter egg and treasure hunt 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, rain or shine. All ages are welcome. Contact Karen Zink at 815-739-9432 with any more information.
The GFWC Illinois Somonauk Junior Woman’s Club will be hosting an egg hunt with the Easter Bunny on Saturday, April 20, rain or shine, at Somonauk Community Park. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. and the hunt will begin promptly at 11. Children through third grade are invited to participate in the hunt, prizes, decorating a cook, and spending time with the Easter Bunny. Participants are encouraged to bring a basket.
A flashlight Easter egg hunt will be hosted 8 p.m. Friday, April 12, by the Streator YMCA, 710 Oakley Ave., for members only. Parents must be present and bringing a flashlight is required to participate. Participants also must pre-register. Those who are participating will meet in the lobby at the YMCA the night of the event and go outside onto the YMCA field. The Easter Bunny will make an appearance for those who want to bring cameras.
Evergreen Place, 1529 E. Main St., will host an Easter Eggstravaganza 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14. The event will have egg hunting, pictures with the Easter Bunny and snacks and drinks. Call 815-672-0903 for more information. An RSVP by April 5 was requested.
The Toluca Business Association is hosting an Easter Open House from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 20, at the Toluca American Legion, 115 W. Santa Fe. Ave. Stop by and meet the Easter Bunny, there will be crafts, treats and a special prize for each child up to 10-year-old.
The Utica Fire Protection District will sponsor an Easter egg hunt at Danny Carey Memorial Park beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20. To learn more, call 815-667-4113.
The Women of Wenona, known as WOW, are hosting an Easter egg hunt 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, in the village park.
