FLANAGAN – Arlene M. Crichton, 87, of Flanagan, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at Flanagan Rehabilitation & Health Care.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 25, at Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, with Rev. Dana Jumper officiating. Burial will follow at Center Cemetery, Flanagan. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the memorial home. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, is assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made to the Cunningham Children's Home, Urbana, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arlene was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Flanagan, the daughter of Clarence and Fannie Kalkwarf Spaniol. She married John Crichton on Jan. 24, 1981, in Flanagan. He died in March of 1989.
Surviving are one brother, Lyle Spaniol, of Bloomington; and several nieces, nephews plus many great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Norma Lawrence.
Arlene was a member of the former Flanagan United Methodist Church and now attends the Flanagan Christian Church. She was a 4H Leader from 1954-1963. She worked as a sales clerk for C.G. Murphy Dime Store from 1958 until 1980 and then at Lilli's Gift Shop. Arlene enjoyed traveling, sewing for family and friends, and being a member of the Early Day Engine Club with her husband.
