EARLVILLE — Delbert L. Erwin, 88, of Earlville, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Mendota Lutheran Home.
He was born April 27, 1925, in Hoosier Township in Clay County, Ill. He married Charlotte Warren on Dec. 24, 1947, in Louisville, Ill.
He was a member of Earlville United Presbyterian Church and the Earlville American Legion.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a pastor at Nazarene Church in Sheridan for several years.
He retired from Federal Huber in Plano after many years.
He is survived by his wife, Charlotte; one son, Michael (Sandy) Erwin, of Earlville; one daughter, Kaye (Gene) Saylor, of Sheridan; five grandchildren, Jeff (Tina) Saylor, Melissa (Bret) Collins, Shawn (Angela) Warren, Adrienne Erwin and Ben (Sarah) Erwin; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Louetta (Carol) Rhinehart, of Chester, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Vincent Erwin, and several half brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, at Earlville United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Del Keilman officiating. Burial will follow in Little Rock Township Cemetery in Plano. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, at the church. Arrangements were entrusted to Hanley-Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Earlville.
