Joe Birkett, DuPage County state's attorney and 2006 Republican nominee for lieutenant governor, will speak at the La Salle County Republican Central Committee's annual Lincoln Day Dinner Friday.

"Joe Birkett was the No. 1 Republican vote-getter in the 2006 primary and we are proud that he has agreed to be our featured speaker," said Tom Setchell, chairman of the La Salle County Republican Central Committee.

Birkett, of Wheaton, has served 10 years as DuPage County state's attorney. He has run for statewide office twice, as the Republican nominee for Illinois attorney general in 2002 and again as the lieutenant governor candidate last year.

The Lincoln Day Dinner will be held at 7 p.m. at Starved Rock Lodge in Starved Rock State Park. Tickets are available by calling Setchell at (815) 433-0772.
