AMBOY — Freshman pitcher Shane Reynolds threw a no-hitter as the Marquette Crusaders beat the Amboy Clippers 22-0 in five innings in a nonconference baseball game Thursday afternoon.
Marquette (7-0) put up seven runs during the opening frame and later added nine more in the top of the fifth.
Zach Dyche (two doubles, three runs batted in) and Connor Durdan both went 3-for-3 at the plate to pace the Crusaders' offense. Luke Couch (triple, three RBIs), Liam Dougherty (2-for-2) and Michael Killelea (two RBIs) all added a pair of hits. Kyle Cook tripled and drove in two runs, while Nate Melvin and Bryce Foster each doubled and Logan Komater plated a trio of runners.
Reynolds, who needed just 62 pitches for his gem, walked one batter and struck out seven.
Peoria High 5, Streator 4
At Peoria, the Bulldogs were edged by the Lions in a nonconference match.
Posting singles wins for Streator were Alex Granados at No. 2 (6-0, 6-2 over Darveis Thomas), Jason Houch at No. 3 (6-4, 6-1 over Noah Hardin) and Alessandro Deleon at No. 6 (6-1, 6-4 over AC Spinks). Notching a doubles victory was Max Baker and Nate Beck at No. 2 (8-6 over Hardin and Jalen Parker).
Streator 6, Ottawa 1
At Whitney Field in Ottawa, Drew Schmitt pitched a complete-game three-hitter with two walks and three strikeouts to lead Streator (3-0) to the nonconference win over the Corsairs.
Mason Telford doubled for Streator. Mason Benning and Tony Rath brought in a pair of runs apiece. Christian Bedeker had an RBI as well.
Ty Trovero plated Ottawa's run. Kadon Harth (3 R, 4 H) took the pitching loss.
JV girls soccer
Streator 2, Mendota 0
At Streator YMCA, Ashlyn Rodgers and Mia Kilodeij each scored a goal for Streator during its blanking of Mendota. Kilodeij, Klaire Phillis and Regan Goode all notched assists. Amanda Moran made 15 saves.
