Carol Ann Hadley, 71, of Marseilles, died Friday, March 23, 2018, at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, at St. Joseph Church in Marseilles with Rev. Tony Ego, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.
Carol was born Dec. 20, 1946, in Chicago, to John and Dorothy (Johnson) Rugen. She married Samuel Hadley on Dec. 22, 1971, in Germany. Carol owned her own restaurant in Chicago. She later worked for Walmart in Peru and St. Joseph Church in Marseilles. She was a member of St. Joseph Church. Carol loved reading, volunteered at Reddick Library many years ago and helped out with the Girl Scouts.
She is survived by two daughters, Catherine Hadley, of Delta Junction, Alaska, and Carolyn (Dave) Claahsen, of Marseilles; a stepson, Hans Hadley, of Saugerties, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Julie (Mack) Dillard, of Tampa, Fla.; eight stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild; and a brother, Michael Rugen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Samuel, on July 25, 2015; a daughter, Cynthia; a brother, John; a stepson, Samuel Hadley; and a stepgrandson, Dylan Hadley.
Pallbearers will be Dave Claahsen, John Rugen, Jeff Rugen, Michael Rugen, Walter Woodye and David Thompson.
