OTTAWA GARDEN CLUB
Ottawa Garden Club met Feb. 27. Diane Carr was door greeter and Judy Ilgen was hospitality greeter. Host and hostesses were Alan Howarter, Mary Ruth Aubry, Phyllis Donahue and Doug Willet. Emilie Overy from Flowers Plus in Streator spoke about flower arranging and created an arrangement she donated for door prizes. She gave some useful tips for arrangements.

Rose Haiduke was the member spotlight. She paints and does illustrations for her daughter's books.
The club is selling tote bags for $10. Profits from the sale will go to the Park Bench Fund. The club also is selling T-shirts. Order forms are available at meetings.
There will be a plant sale in May and the club is looking for a new chairperson for the Great Gardens Committee. Sharon Stevenson is organizing a trip to Winding Creek Nursery.
Harriet Stawarz won the door prize, Carlene Strehl won the flower arrangement and Ilgen won the vase of tulips.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 27, at the Fox Hi-Rise. Don and Wendy Wenzel from Donnie Appleseed Orchard will be speakers and the topic will be growing apples and vegetables.
