AREA ROUNDUP: Fieldcrest baseball falls in extra inning

DWIGHT — The Fieldcrest Knights were edged 4-3 in eight innings by the Dwight Trojans in a nonconference baseball contest Monday afternoon.

Michael Morse (run scored), Matt Cook, Hayden Carls (run) and Travis Cook accounted for Fieldcrest's four hits. Morse (1 2/3 IP, 3 ER, 2 H, 3 BB, 0 K) took the pitching loss in relief of starter McKoy Allen (3 IP, 1 ER, 0 H, 4 BB, 5 K) and Ryan Naas (3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 BB, 1 K).
Track and field
Crusaders, Lady Crusaders take part in Comet Classic
At Braidwood on Saturday, the Marquette Academy boys and girls track and field teams competed in the Reed-Custer Comet Classic indoor meet.
Crusaders freshman Lucas Hoffman was runner-up in the 3,200. The quartet of Angelo Bayno, Wyatt Hettel, Garreth Kent and Brandon Ruggles finished fourth in the 3,200 relay.
The Lady Crusaders' Sarah Lechtenberg placed third in the 3,200. Sarah Smith was fifth in the shot put.
JV softball
Amboy 18, Marquette 7
At Amboy, Addie McConnaughhay had a triple and Evelyn Biggins a double for Marquette during its loss to Amboy. Molly Snook and Grace Jeanblanc had a hit apiece. Snook took the pitching loss.
