To the Editor:
Libertarians from across the state met in Bloomington recently for our annual convention. Our most exciting race was for governor. We then nominated other statewide candidates and general assembly candidates. There are so many great people willing to dedicate their time and money to advance libertarian policy!
Illinois Valley Libertarians hosted a Gubernatorial Candidates Dinner featuring Kash Jackson, Jon Stewart, and Matthew C. Scaro last month at Hank's Farm in Ottawa. We heard three very inspiring and dedicated Libertarians speak about their plans to bring libertarianism to the governor's office! The nomination was hard, the count led to a tie between Jackson/Stewart, both being excellent nominees. Finally, Kash Jackson won the nomination by nine votes.
Our most promising Libertarian candidate is hands down Claire Ball running for comptroller. She would be the first qualified person for the job in more than 200 years. The position has never been held by an actual accountant before, political favors and who you know usually fills the spot. We also nominated Sanj Mohip for lieutenant governor, Bubba Harsy for attorney general, Steve Dutner for secretary of state, and Mike Leheney for state treasurer. All very promising candidates who advocate less government, less spending!
If you would like to learn more about libertarianism or just want to ask us a few questions, please don’t hesitate to find us on Facebook or at our monthly meeting. We meet every second Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. at Hank's Farm in Ottawa.
