OTTAWA AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
Ottawa American Legion Auxiliary met March 5. President Jean Firlik called the meeting to order.
Chaplin Barb Olson gave the prayer, the pledge and preamble to American Legion Auxiliary was recited. Five officers were present. Secretary Annette Maltas read the minutes, and treasurer Idalia Stricklin read the treasurer's report, which was received for audit. Stricklin gave the membership report showing one new member and 82.4 percent of goal. The members discussed sponsoring the community meal Sunday, Aug. 19, at First Presybterian Church. Members voted to donate to Toby Tire and Ottawa River Rescue Squad.
The corned beef and cabbage dinner will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 17. Dinners will be $8. Sandwiches with chips will be $4. Ruebens with chips will be $5. Dine in or carry outs will be available. Members discussed working with the post to purchase a new cooler.
The Patriotic Conference will be Friday, March 23, in Normal. Four members attended the second division meeting in Fox Lake. Two members attended the 12th District meeting in Oswego.
The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, April 2.
