Trial will begin next week for a former Marquette Academy teacher charged with battering students. Tammie Tieman, 47, Princeton, was charged in March 2017 with physically abusing six students at Marquette Academy while she was a teacher at the Ottawa school. The school then fired Tieman. At a court hearing Friday, Tieman's attorney, Dan Bute, of Ottawa, told Circuit Judge Cynthia Raccuglia that Tieman wants to forgo a jury and instead have Raccuglia decide guilt or innocence. Trial will begin Tuesday morning. Tieman is out of custody on bond.
