BOONVILLE, Mo. — Jackie R. “Jack” Cooper, 77, of Boonville, Mo., passed away Saturday morning, March 3, at Ashley Manor Care Center in Boonville.

Visitation for Jack will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Howard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the funeral home with the Rev. Nick Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Jackie Ray Cooper was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Gooches Mill, Mo., the son of Ray C. Cooper and Eunice Walters Cooper. Eunice passed away when Jack was 8 years old and his stepmom, Wilma, raised him. He married Karen Lee Solberg on Aug. 5, 1961, in Sheridan.

Jack moved back to Boonville in 1973 and started Cooper Welding; the business is in its 45th year of operation and the success shows in all the Cooper dump trucks running up and down the road. He was a hardworking man and was appreciated by area farmers. Jack didn’t know a stranger and was known by all — you could say Jack Cooper was a legend and you knew exactly where you stood with him. He was a family man who made the time to love his family no matter how busy he was. He loved his three grandchildren and supported all their endeavors.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; stepmom, Wilma; his wife, Karen, on June 29, 2016; son, Jeff; and daughter, Lori Ann.
He is survived by his sons, Brian (Stephanie) Cooper, of Rocheport, and Mark Cooper, of Boonville. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Abbey and Campbell Cooper and Dylan Cooper; and sister, Bobbie Ann Balke, of Sedalia, Mo. He will be dearly missed by his many friends and acquaintances.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
