Dolores M. Valle: 1934-2018


OGLESBY — Dolores Valle, 83, of Oglesby, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 21, at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria, surrounded by her family.

Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 26, at Prey-Mueller Funeral Home in Oglesby, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church, Oglesby. The Very Rev. Gary Blake, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Vincent’s Cemetery, La Salle. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with Liturgical Prayers recited at 4:50 p.m. at the funeral home.

Dolores was born Oct. 13, 1934, in La Salle, to Herman Sr. and Helena (Loebach) Wiertz. She graduated from Tonica High School in 1952 as part of the Tonica all-girl class. Dolores married Frank Valle on June 11, 1955, at St. Joseph’s Church in La Salle.

She was a member of Holy Family Church in Oglesby, Oglesby PTA, where she served as president, LP Booster Club, a Girl Scout Leader, a Boy Scout Den Mother and a head room mother.

Dolores worked as a lunchroom supervisor at Lincoln School in Oglesby, as clerical help at the News Tribune office, and later as the Oglesby circulation supervisor where she worked with many of the youth of Oglesby.
Survivors include her three children, Helen (Joe) Maurice, of Peru, Frank (Glenda) Valle, of Peru, and Camillo (Barb) Valle, of Princeton; seven grandchildren, Frank (Noreen), Brett (Alisha), Jordan (Mallory), Kristin, Ben (Schmidt), Sarah and Kelly (Schmidt); four great-grandchildren, Frank, Raphael, Trevor and John; her little buddy, Buttons; and several nieces and nephews. In addition, she is survived by two brothers-in-law, Marion (Joan) Valle, of Chicago, and Philip (Irma) Valle, of La Salle.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, on June 21, 2008; her daughter-in-law, Peggy Valle; her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Lighted Way or Oglesby Public Schools.
