The two new members will join the board for the next meeting Tuesday, March 15. With Stecken, Goslin and the other five board members, Fran Kasten, Patty Newberry, J.D. Mott, Neil Sandburg and Coleen O'Neill, the board will be full after five months of waiting.
“The park board interviewed 12 applicants over a two-day period,” said Mayor David Spicer, “and I know it was a very tough choice for them to make. Actually, it's the first time in years that we've had this much interest in these positions. Usually, we have to find people to apply and it's not always been easy.”
Spicer said the park board is doing some incredible things in the upcoming months so the appointments were important for the board to work at full capacity.
Park Board member Fran Kasten said the appointments could not have come soon enough.
“We've got a lot of projects and programs coming up so the timing is perfect,” Kasten said. “Besides our big projects of Crotty and Graves Family Park, we have our fishing derby and summer youth camps coming up, so we're really happy that we have a full board.”
