Streator High School on Tuesday hired a new athletics director to replace Kevin Wargo, who is retiring in December after eight years on the job.
The board voted unanimously for girls basketball coach and special education teacher Rory Bedeker as the new AD. Unlike Wargo, he will be considered both a teacher and athletics director.
Wargo, a 1978 Streator graduate, has been an educator for 32 years. While athletics director, he also taught a couple of classes.
Also hired Tuesday was social studies teacher Rob Tyne as dean of students. He, too, will continue in his role as a teacher.
Dave Holmes has been serving as part-time dean over the last year, following his retirement from the position.
In other business, the school board accepted the resignation of head volleyball coach Kari Benning.
The votes on the personnel matters were taken after the board's closed session.
