Dolphins 2nd in Distance Challenge

The Ottawa YMCA Dolphins swam to second place in a four-team Distance Challenge hosted by Illinois Valley.
Finley Jobst (3:06.72 in 10U 200 freestyle, :37.68 in 8U 50 freestyle, :19.52 in 8U 25 butterfly) and Joey Ovanic (19:13.20 in 21U 1650 freestyle, 2:24.30 in 200 butterfly, 4:56.42 in 400 IM) each scored three individual victories for the Dolphins.
Both Henry Farabaugh (:28.33 in 6U 25 backstroke, :23.61 in 25 freestyle) and Mikenna DeSpain (1:46.49 in 12U 100 breaststroke, :47.33 in 10U 50 breaststroke) recorded two individual event wins for Ottawa.
Adding single victories included Kari Benson (1:28.93 in 21U 100 breaststroke), Evelyn Clayton (3:19.18 in 12U 200 IM), Elle McGrath (:24.93 in 6U 25 backstroke), Reed McGrath (1:37.62 in 8U 100 IM), Owen Phillips (1:00.52 in 12U 100 freestyle), Adam Swanson (:43.31 in 10U 50 breaststroke), Jon Szewczuk (5:49.84 in 14U 500 freestyle), Jack Williamson (1:17.81 in 10U 100 freestyle) and Luke Williamson (:45.32 in 8U 50 freestyle).
Central volleyball wins pair
Central Lady Cyclones volleyball recorded two wins over Marseilles — 21-12, 21-9 in fifth-grade play (Madison Williams eight points) and 25-17, 13-25, 15-1 in the sixth-grade match (Hannah Waddell 12 points).
Marseilles 7s trump ICS
The Marseilles seventh-grade spikers scored a 25-14, 25-10 win over Morris ICS. Eva McCallum (16 service points, 10 aces, two kills), Taylor Combs (seven points, five aces) and Caity Case (five points) led the Marseilles attack.

Streator girls softball signup
Streator Girls Softball signup will be this Saturday, February 17 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the St. Michael School craft fair. The cost will be to sell 12 raffle tickets. SGS is looking for volunteer coaches and assistant coaches as well.
