Thomas G. Kettman: 1926-2018

CORNELL — Thomas G. Kettman, 91, of Cornell, passed away Saturday, Feb. 10, at Heritage Health and Rehabilitation Care Center.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Winterrowd Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael the Archangel Church with Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in Phillips Cemetery with full military honors conducted by members of the Streator American Legion and Streator VFW.

Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Kurt, Brandon, David, Chris and Jacob; granddaughter, Madison; and nephew, Dan Perry.

Tom was born Aug. 9, 1926, in Streator, to John and Mary (Coleman) Kettman. He married Marianne Daugherity on Nov. 11, 1949. She survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Kathy (Brian) Kmetz, of Streator, and Susan (Csaba) Kettman-Radnoty, of West Hills, Calif.; son, Brian (Kim) Kettman, of Marseilles; seven grandchildren, Kurt and Brandon Quickel, David and Chris Kmetz, Shay Sanford and Jacob and Madison Kettman; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Marilyn) Kettman, of Streator; sister, Carol (Dick) Janko, of Peru; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jerry; grandson, Tyler Kettman; brother, Arnold Kettman; and sisters, Shirley Rieck and Juanita Perry.

Tom graduated from St. Anthony’s Grade School in 1940 and attended Streator High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving during WWII.

Tom retired from the Illinois State Police – District 6 in 1983 and was a welder at Streator Dependable.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Streator American Legion Post 217 and Streator Knights of Columbus.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
