American Red Cross urges blood donations in February, March

Winter storms and the flu don’t just mean a lot of people are missing work and school — it also means they can’t keep their American Red Cross blood and platelet donation appointments. The Red Cross is urging healthy donors of all blood types to roll up a sleeve to help maintain the blood supply for patients in need. To make an appointment to donate, download the free Red Cross Blood Donor App from app stores, visit redcrossblood.org or call 800-733-2767. Upcoming blood donation opportunities in La Salle County include:

  • 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, Farm Ridge Township Building, 228 W. Penn St., Grand Ridge.
  • Noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, March 1, First Congregational United Church of Christ, 255 E. Bluff St., Marseilles.
  • Noon to 5 p.m. Friday, March 9, OSF St. Paul Medical Center, 1401 12th St., Mendota.
  • 7:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21 OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center, 1100 E. Norris Drive, Ottawa.
