AREA ROUNDUP: LP/O/S coop swim team takes 4th

The La Salle-Peru/Ottawa/Streator co-op swim team on Saturday placed fourth at the Northern Illinois Independent Championships.

Sterling, with 275 points, won the meet, followed by Byron (244), Illinois Math and Science Academy (230), LP/O/S (196), Rockford Christian (137) and Sterling Newman (70).

For the locals, Jordan Ovanic placed second in the 50- (22.69 seconds) and 100-yard (49.84) freestyle events, while Jacob Pocivasek claimed second place in the 100-yard backstroke (57.02).

Also second was the 200-yard freestyle relay of Jordan Ovanic, Jake Ovanic, Zach Nelson and Jacob Pocivasek (1:36.18).

At Ottumwa, Iowa on Saturday, Keymonta Johnson and Isaiah Tubbs each had 25 points and nine rebounds apiece for the Eagles (14-10) during their nonconference loss to the Falcons. R.J. Thaxton added 11 points.

At Kingman Gym on Saturday, the Lady Corsairs snapped a two-game slide, thanks to 11 points from Regan O'Fallon and six from Chloe Cottingham.

At Plano, the SHS freshmen lifted their record to 11-9 on the season with the win, which was led by Amarion Ford, Trevor Murphy and Max Baker, each with 12 points.
