Students and staff from Ottawa Christian Academy display signs celebrating National School Choice Week, which advocates educational options for children such as public schooling, private schooling and homeschooling, among others.

Ottawa Christian Academy plans to celebrate educational options and choices for families this month.
Students, teachers and staff at the private pre-K-12 Christian school will observe National School Choice Week from Sunday, Jan. 21, through Saturday, Jan. 27.
National School Choice Week, which was launched in 2011, aims to celebrate all K-12 education options, including traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, private schools, online academies and homeschooling, according to the organization website.
"National School Choice Week allows us to rise to the occasion, rally together to celebrate the family unit and focus on student success," said Rev. Debra Wenger, principal and teacher at Ottawa Christian Academy, in a news release. "We are convinced that each family be given an opportunity to choose the right fit for their child's education. This choice is of utmost importance and, of course, we hope they choose us."

National School Choice Week is nonpartisan and nonpolitical, according to the news release, and is not linked to any legislative advocacy effort.
