MARSEILLES AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
Marseilles American Legion Auxiliary met Jan. 9. President Vickie Finan opened the meeting and Chaplain Ruth Close led in prayer. Secretary Jerri Brown and Treasurer Jill Mooneyham gave their reports. Presents were given to veterans at Rivershores Nursing Home from the poppy account. Brown read thank you notes from the Marseilles Police Department, for donation to Shop with a Cop, Charles Cashman, Navy, for a care package, Lori Forth, from Rivershores Nursing Home, and Al Latimer, La Salle Veterans Home, for Christmas gifts. Nancy Seaborn will purchase and deliver Valentine cards for female veterans at the nursing homes. Wednesday, Jan. 31, will be the next visit to La Salle Veterans Home and the theme will be snowmen and snowflakes.
Plans for the Italian dinner were finalized. Tickets are $12 each and will need to be purchased in advance. Call Finan at 815-228-0194 or Mooneyham at 815-795-5088 with any questions. Raffle baskets will be made and the club will have a 50-50 drawing. Spaghetti, lasagna, bagna cauda, polenta, salad, garlic bread, and dessert will be served. Social hour will start at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, with dinner from 5 to 7 p.m.
The next meeting will begin with dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, followed by the meeting at 7 p.m.
