Neill Mohammad, one of four candidates in the Democratic race in the 16th Congressional District, has picked up endorsements from politicians in his home county.

The endorsements are from DeKalb County Board Chairman Mark Pietrowski Jr., along with board members Steve Faivre and Marjorie Askins. Mohammad, of DeKalb, is a former foreign policy professor and health care consultant.
"Neill is committed to running a professional general election campaign and I believe he could provide an intelligent debate on issues important to voters. He knows it is a tough challenge and he is up for the fight," Pietrowski said in a statement.
In a news release, Mohammad said he is the only Democrat candidate in the 16th District to have received a congressional endorsement. In August, U.S. Rep. Bill Foster, D-Naperville, announced his support for Mohammad, calling him a "leading voice" on health care reform and "a breath of fresh air to Washington."
The other 16th District Democratic candidates are Sara Dady, Amy Murri Briel and Beth Vercolio-Osmund. They are vying for the seat held by Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Channahon. The Democratic and Republican primaries are March 20.
