La Salle County
Leo Downey, 37, rural Ottawa, was arrested at 8:56 a.m. Tuesday on a La Salle County burglary warrant. He was taken to the county jail, needing $500 cash for bond.
Lance Bonnell, 35, Streator, was arrested at 1:14 a.m. Tuesday on a Boone County warrant for violating a court order. He was taken to the county jail, needing $1,000 cash for bond.
District 17, which covers La Salle, Bureau and Putnam Counties, handled 15,982 calls in 2017. Of these calls, 1,849 were for drivers with disabled vehicles. Police also cited 2,423 motorists for speeding and 630 for not wearing seat belts. There were 93 DUI arrests, with a total of 4,820 citations and 7,290 written warnings. Troopers also responded to 493 crashes, of which seven were fatal.
Ottawa firefighters responded at 11:32 a.m. Tuesday to 400 E. Washington St. for a fire alarm, which was caused by cooking odors.
Ottawa firefighters responded at 1:23 p.m. Tuesday to 505 College Ave. for a fire alarm, which was set off by steam.
Streator firefighters responded at 6:16 p.m. Tuesday to 401 W. Lincoln Ave. for a carbon monoxide alarm.
Streator firefighters went to respond at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday to 1405 E. Hickory St. for a bonfire, but then learned the fire was outside the city limits. The call was then directed to the Reading Township Fire Department.
