Suit filed in traffic death

A suit has been filed in connection with a pregnant woman who died in a traffic crash last year.

A pickup driven by Jacob Kaminski, of Marseilles, crossed a center line and collided with a car driven by Alexis S. Danley, of Shorewood, shortly after midnight June 30 near Minooka. The 27-year-old Danley, who was pregnant, died, as did her unborn child. Kaminski was injured.

Kaminski, 24, was charged with aggravated DUI and reckless homicide. He is free on $50,000 cash bond with a pretrial hearing Monday, Jan. 29.

This week in La Salle County Circuit Court, the unborn child's father filed suit against Kaminski for the child's death, saying the child was a "viable fetus." A "viable fetus" is one where the expectation is an equal chance of surviving outside his or her mother's womb. A suit for the mother's death was filed Dec. 27 against Kaminski.
