Indian Valley Vocational Center announces outstanding winter students

Indian Valley Vocational Center, Sandwich, announced its 15 outstanding winter students. This recognition program spotlights a student from 15 programs on site, plus cosmetology and fire science. Each program instructor selects a different student three times during the year for this special recognition. The criteria includes qualities like outstanding professional work, enthusiasm, attendance, initiative and demonstrated work ethic. The students receive a certificate denoting this award.

Honorees are:

Earlville High School: Alexander VanDorsten, applied math; and Holly Lopez, graphic design.

Hinckley-Big Rock High School: Cerina Alfaro, emergency medical technician.

Indian Creek High School: Skyler Kaelin, certified nurse assistant; and Jose Ibarra, culinary arts.

Newark High School: Benjamin Horvat, computer technology.

Serena High School: Steven Tordai, auto body repair; Allison Bertrang, cosmetology; and Jessica Simpkins, law enforcement.

Plano High School: Juozas Jirus, automotive technology; and Alonzo Mendez, sports medicine.

Sandwich High School: Tyler Bols, computer programming; and Sarah McHale, pre-engineering.

Somonauk High School: Hailey Mahara, early childhood education.

Yorkville High School: Erin Hettinger, health occupations.

IVVC is owned and operated by 11 school districts, those mentioned as well as Leland and Paw Paw.
