Mendota man cited in train collision

A 25-year-old Mendota man was arrested Sunday after police said he left the scene of a train-versus-vehicle collision south of Mendota.

Kyle Balog was arrested at 7 a.m. Sunday on complaints of blocking a railroad grade crossing and leaving the scene of an accident with vehicle damage.

Deputies with Mendota EMS responded at about 6:21 a.m. Sunday on Meridian Road, south of North 41st Road, in Troy Grove Township and found a vehicle was unoccupied at the time of the collision. No injuries were reported by the crew of the train.

Balog was given a notice to appear in court.
