MARSEILLES — James Grant Barton, 67, of Marseilles, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Pleasant View.

Memorial services will be at a later date. Ottawa Funeral Home has been entrusted with his cremation rites.
James was born Jan. 25, 1950, in Williamson, W. Va., to Edward and Nancy (Easley) Barton. He attended Louisiana Tech University, where he received his bachelor's degree in math and applied computer statistics. He married Mary Beth Lynott on Aug. 31, 1980, at Starved Rock State Park.
He retired from LOF after 30 years of service as a supervisor. After his retirement he continued to work for LOF as a consultant.
He enjoyed playing golf, tennis and weaving. He was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Ottawa.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Beth; four siblings, Keith (Grady) Ferry, of Spring, Texas, Susy Rybicki, of Belleville, Ill., and George (Diane) Barton and Tom Barton, both of Sherman, Texas; his paternal aunts and uncles, June (the late Jim) Trinnaman, of Carlisle, Pa., James (Judy) Barton, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jay (Mary) Barton, of Lynchburg, Va., and Jery (Elaine) Barton, of Holland, Ohio; his maternal aunts, Isabel (Dick) Northcut, of Brentwood, Tenn., and Peggy (Phil) Masenheimer, of Spokane, Wash.; his brothers-in-law, Terry (Dee), Tom (Pegge) and Mike Lynott; his sister-in-law, Patti (Berne) Ernat; and his two furry friends, Pogo and Jet.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother-in-law, Dr. Kenneth J. Rybicki; and many loving cats.
Memorials may be directed to Natural Resources Defense Council, World Wildlife Fund, Humane Society and no-kill shelters all over the world.
