La Salle County 4-H members honored at banquet

University of Illinois Extension 4-H members and volunteers recently celebrated a year of accomplishments during the annual La Salle County awards banquet sponsored by the 4-H Federation. 

Following are the some of the awards presented to clubs and individuals for their many accomplishments:
Club progress awards: Corn Belt Kids, Dimmick Braves, Fox River Warriors and South Prairie Pioneers for demonstrating progress toward goals and completing reporting.
Triple Crown awards: Dimmick Braves and South Prairie Pioneers clubs for meeting progress requirements for three consecutive years.
Award of Excellence: Corn Belt Kids, Dimmick Braves, Hustling Hoppers, Pouncing Panthers and South Prairie Pioneers for complete a level of the standards of excellence.
Clubs that participated in the National 4-H Week promotion in October also were recognized. The Dimmick Braves club was awarded the Most Creative, Fox River Warriors received the Best County Display award, and South Prairie Pioneers was named Top Winner.
Individual awards included:
Outstanding Secretary Award: Mathew Rich, of Dimmick Braves.
Outstanding Treasurer Award: Rylan Kerper, of Dimmick Braves.
Top 5 Awards: Individual club members who represented a high level of leadership and participation in club meetings and activities were recognized as Top 5 award recipients. Leader’s selected the members and shared stories of each member's accomplishments throughout the past 4-H year. Top 5 recipients were: Kelby Swanson, Shaylee Swanson, Emmy Taylor, Andrea Bradner, Maryn Ellis, Cole Haynes, Erin Leschewski, Claire Stillwell, Hunter McAlpine, Madi McAlpine, Levi Maierhofer, Ethan Robson, Bekah Drysdale, Ben Kaschke, Isabel Kaschke, Ashley Passwater, Austin Passwater, Kassidy Brady, Mackenzie Brady, Brady Mudge, Madeline Rose Mudge, Mathew Rich, Hallie Kiper, Emma Pillion, Be Shugrue, Hannah Szobar, Hayley Thompson, Kameron Hasings, Addie Titzel, Tyler Angus, Alyssa Miskell, Meghan Penoyer, Amber Shiffbauer, Aly Uteg, Blaire Collins, Martha Hoffman, Miriam Hoffman, Julia Krueger, Karly Reel, Gary Duffield, Nathan Hicks, Katelyn Leix, Alexis Bubela, Riley Kroll, Greyson Marincic, Ellie Radtke, Henry Alexander, Lily Hladovcak, Steven Haladvcak, Kate Passwater and Allison Scheib.
During the banquet, Miriam Hoffman spoke about her attendance at the National 4-H Congress celebration in Atlanta, Ga. Martha Hoffman received recognition for her Project Mastery Award,  representing La Salle County 4-H. Martha shared stories of her experiences and encouraged more 4-H youths to apply for this award.
The La Salle County Extension and 4-H program also honored Terri Sancken, recipient of the Friend of 4-H award. Sancken is a volunteer leading the Brookfield Indians community club as well as the Advanced Robotics SPIN club. Sancken also is an active member of the fundraising campaign committee, Friends of Extension and 4-H. She assists in the Extension office as well as at workshops and events. 
The banquet, conducted at Pitstick Pavilion in Ottawa, included a magic show and buffet dinner along with the awards ceremony.
