John L. 'Jack' Feehan: 1929-2017


OTTAWA — John “Jack” Feehan, 88, of Ottawa, died Thursday, Dec. 14, at Pleasant View.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, at St. Columba Church with the Rev. David Kipfer, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa with liturgical prayers at 1:45 p.m. and the Knights of Columbus in attendance.
Jack was born April 7, 1929, in Ottawa, to John W. and Effie O. (Lambert) Feehan. He was a graduate of Ottawa grade and high schools and St. Ambrose College. He married Marion J. Neary on June 7, 1952, at St. Columba Church.
He was an independent insurance agent for 61 years and was president of Feehan-McClellan Agency, Inc.
He was a member of St. Columba Church, a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and a longtime member and past chairman of the board of Ottawa Savings Bank.
He was a past president of the Ottawa Downtown Development Corporation, past president of the La Salle County Independent Insurance Agents Association, a past director of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, past president of Greater Ottawa, Inc., and member of the Ottawa Elks Club, Ottawa Boat Club, Starved Rock Yacht Club and Deer Park Country Club.
He is survived by his wife, Marion; four children, Jack (Patti) Feehan, of Ottawa, Sharon (Bill Vaughan) Feehan, of Forest Lake, Minn., Kathleen (Wayne) Kellogg, of Ottawa, and Patrick (Tammi) Feehan, of Ottawa; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Patricia Leipold.
Pallbearers will be Matt Feehan, John Feehan, Jack Mitchell, Bill Kummer, Larry Johnson, Jim Ferrero and Dan Reynolds.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Columba Church Building Fund.
