MARSEILLES AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY
The Marseilles American Legion Auxiliary met Dec. 12 at Legion Post 235. President Vickie Finan opened the meeting and Chaplain Ruth Close led prayer. Secretary Jerri Brown took roll call. November minutes and treasury reports were approved and accepted.
The Marseilles Santa parade was well-attended. Thank you cards were read from veterans who received care packages; more packages will be sent.
Members participated in the Christmas party gift card day and Christmas carol sing-along, with piano music provided by Ann Terry, at the La Salle Veterans Home. A New Year's Eve party is planned for Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Veterans Home.
The Legion will host an Italian dinner Saturday, Feb. 3, at a cost of $12 for a menu of lasagna, spaghetti, bagna cauda, salad, bread and dessert with no carry-outs offered. The newest member, Joal Kunz, will make Italian chocolate cookies. Tickets, which must be purchased in advance, will be available from members on Tuesday, Jan. 9. There will be a 50-50 raffle for gift baskets. Members volunteered to be in charge of tickets, advertisement, meal preparation, decorating, setup and cleanup.
The next meeting will begin with dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, followed by the meeting at 7 p.m.
