Streator police warn of auto thefts

Streator police said Wednesday they have received 10 reports of stolen vehicles since October. In each case, the vehicles were unlocked with keys inside, including three cases in which the vehicles were left running. The thefts have occurred throughout the city with no clear pattern, police noted. Anyone with information should call police at 815-672-3111.

At least some of these vehicles have been found.

Police Chief Kurt Pastirik reminded the public to lock vehicles, not leave keys inside and not leave vehicles running. Also, valuables should not be left visible inside vehicles.
