John C. Kegler: 1955-2017

OTTAWA — John C. Kegler, 62, of Ottawa, died Monday morning, Dec. 11, at his home.

Memorial services will be at a later date in Nebraska. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mueller Funeral Home and Crematory in Ottawa.
John was born Aug. 31, 1955, in Omaha, Neb., the son of George and Molly (Robuck) Kegler. He was a graduate of Tekamah Herman High School. He attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and Dana College. John married Catherine Bowers on Dec. 12, 2016, in Ottawa.
John was a truck driver and over more than 40 years, he and Cathy covered millions of miles together. Recently, he was employed as a truck driver at Airgas in Minooka.
John was a good and kind man who never hesitated to help a stranger. The world is a much emptier place without him.
He is survived by his wife, Cathy; a brother, Thomas (Kim) Kegler; a sister, Elizabeth McMurrin; nephews, Shane (Katie) Kegler and Jessie and Cody Strausser; and beloved dogs, Gunny, a retired military explosives detection dog, and big goofy Mia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
