An 18-year-old male was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound, according to a press release issued by the Streator Police Department.
Police were called at 7:53 a.m. Sunday to 406 N. Sterling St. The suspect in the shooting is a male juvenile who has been identified and is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.
More information will be released after the family of the victim has been notified, police said.
Streator Police Sgt. Nathan Guest said at the scene Sunday there is no danger to the public at this time.
The 400 block of North Sterling Street was closed, as yellow caution tape blocked off the perimeter of the house onto the street.
The incident is under investigation by the Streator police, the La Salle County state's attorney, coroner and sheriff and Illinois State Police Crime Investigations Unit.
